Yeah, everyone. Even if your hobby simply consists of nudity, 4chan or lighter fluid, it's still a hobby. One of my lesser explored but more rewarding hobbies is playing the role of matchmaker amongst my friends. I am not gonna lie, I am the Optimus Prime of wingmen, trying to hook up Meghan Fox and Bumblebee. However, this is neither the time nor place to go into my successes in matchmaking, for I have a revolutionary new idea that I think we can all appreciate.
There are several instances of a pretty noteable merger of socialites and the sports world. However, no one things ties the two together like they could be once America's newest power couple takes over:
Kim Kardashian
and
Tim Tebow
Ahh yes, love is in the air. Recently single Kim is still young and hip and looking for a man that can provide. And as she well knows, NFL players make bank (Eh Reggie Bush and Miles Austin?). I mean, I know Kim must be going through a rough time with this divorce, but what could make it easier than dating the poster boy of purity, the star child of the NFL? Tim Tebow, a new starter in the NFL, has struggled so far, even to the point of being publicly taunted by the Lions for being bad. (Lets all appreciate the irony of that statement). Perhaps all he really needs is a loving, supportive Kardashian clan to come home to after a hard day at work and just cry it out with. I can even see a new TV show in the works. Tim and Kim: Kardashian's in The Swamp. I really think this needs to happen, I mean, whats says "I'm good at football" other than having a really famous girlfriend, ehh Tony Romo?
Marriage Prediction: I'd surely give it longer than the 72 days she lasted with Kris Humphries, but the relationship goes the way of Tim Tebow's completion percentage and lasts only a few months.
Interesting progress in the Suck for Luck campaign, as the Rams are now out of the hunt (if they were ever actually in it to begin with). However, Miami and Indianapolis are still going strong, with a few dark horse horse teams such as Arizona and Denver in the possible mix. Miami actually looked like they might pull off a W against the Giants, but ran out of gas late. I'm not exactly sure if Tony Sparano wants Andrew Luck or not, but his main priority ought to be his job, which he is so very close to losing. If he sucks badly enough to get Luck, then he's gone. If he doesn't, he fields the same anemic offense again next year.
As the season reaches the middle point and the playoff races start to form, there are a few teams who are really making a strong push for success and a few who aren't.
Rising Stock:
Detroit Lions (6-2): It appears the Lions more or less righted the ship against the Broncos after losing two straight tough games. Someone really ought to teach Tebow to avoid the blitzes instead of running at them.
San Francisco 49er's (6-1): Looking like a truly tough team, with a stubborn defense and a , for the moment at least, successful offense.
Pittsburgh Steeler's (6-2): A good tough win against the Patriots, as they played just like you should against Tom Brady and limited the damage he could do. Heading into a revenge matchup against the Ravens, the Steeler's have a shot at gaining some serious momentum here.
Falling Stock:
Miami Dolphins (0-7): Actually saw some pretty exciting moments out of the Dolphins this weekend, but overall they are plagued by a lack of skill and coaching.
Indianapolis Colts (0-8): Scoring a garbage time touchdown in your weekly blowout is no positive for a team that is 0-8 and not even competitive anymore.
Arizona Cardinals (1-6): Definitely a collapse for the ages on Sunday, as the Cards let another close game slip away. Kevin Kolb doesn't seem to be the answer in Arizona. At least not this season.
Fantasy Outlook
Brandon Lloyd, WR Rams: I like what I see already out of Lloyd's time in St. Louis. If AJ Feeley can get him the ball like he did on Sunday, then Sam Bradford can as well, and one would think he could to a higher degree as well. If you stuck with Lloyd through the dark days in Denver, give yourself a pat on the back. If you didn't, and believe me, no one faults you if you didn't, go pick him up quick.
Jason Hill, WR Jaguars: He didn't lead the team in targets on Sunday, but he did have five, and scored against a tough Texans defense. There will be better weeks for Hill ahead, and he is a sneaky bye week fill in moving forward.
TE Fred Davis and TE Scott Chandler (Redskins, Bills): A few quick words on these two. Davis was the primary beneficiary of the abscence of Santana Moss, as predicted, as he saw 9 targets on Sunday. He's probably not available in your league but if he is, he's a good TE pick up going forward. Chandler did what he has done all season, popping his head up, getting two quick scores and then disappearing again. He is the riskiest of risky fantasy pickups, so stay away.
RB Maurice Morris, Lions: If Jahvid Best continues to miss time with his concussion, (which he might, considering the tricky nature of concussions) then Morris is the guy worth taking a look at. He runs better than Keiland Williams, the other back in Detroit, and should be the primary workhorse until Best returns.
WR Michael Crabtree, 49er's: Crabtree has started to show some life in the past few weeks, and should be the favored target of QB Alex Smith moving forward. Braylon Edwards could also have some value here, but Crabtree is younger, more talented and, as I see it, more likely to find the end zone every week.
Equal Exchange
A list of guys I'd drop if you own them, followed by a list of guys I'd pick up if you don't.
Add List: QB Colt McCoy, TE Jake Ballard, WR Torrey Smith, WR Braylon Edwards, RB Chris Ogbonnoya, WR Antonio Brown, WR Deion Branch, WR Kevin Walter, RB Delone Carter, RB Javon Ringer, RB Reggie Bush,WR Malcom Floyd, WR Jonathan Baldwin.
Drop List: RB Brandon Jacobs, TE Lance Kendricks, WR Devery Henderson, WR Robert Meachem, WR Michael Jenkins, TE Jeremy Shockey, QB Kevin Kolb, RB Thomas Jones, RB Dexter McCluster, QB Matt Cassel.
